Ha! That made me laugh :)
This book is pretty bleak overall -- the story of a motherless family growing up in the Alaskan wilderness -- but this was a funny passage.
Wow, that would be pretty bleak.
I would never have imagined Cream of Wheat being put to such a purpose. :)
I think it's got a higher tensile strength than, say, oatmeal. Or something. ;)
